mommy moments: the color purple

purple is my favorite color, that is besides yellow, i have quite a few stuff in this shade: shirt, shoes, pens, purses + pouches, notice that even my blog signature is in purple! that is why, this morning when i checked my folders in search for jared’s photo with purple in it, i find it both amusing + surprising that i can’t find one! yeah, seriously, i just realized, jared doesn’t really own anything purple, well except perhaps for the purple “c” in his shape sorter. the best option i have is this ancient photo of his (with mum this time) shot in our old room, where i used to hang this purple curtain (see i am such a purpleaholic – borrow your term thine {my purple addict friend + kumare!}), jared was just a couple of months old in this photo…

a mum with two blogs + a baby!

sure this mummy has her hands full…
imagine a one-and-a-half year old baby that demands undivided attention 24/7? add a dozen or so feeding bottles to be washed and sterilized every single day, a pile of soiled cloth diapers and tiny pj’s, shirts and shorts in the laundry basket that needed attention once or twice a week, a room chock full of toys and baby stuffs in topsy turvy which has to be tidied up several times daily, and a hosts of other home-related chores + errands into the equation – equals a restless mum who’s badly in need of some me-time for a well-deserved rest + relaxation.

and as if that is not enough…
this mummy – in a desperate mission to find another creative yet convenient and i daresay, inexpensive, avenue, that’s besides tinkering on her baby’s stuffs + or ogling at her sleeping baby while he takes a nap, to pass what little free time she has away – stumbled upon blogger, one fine day, + was smitten as if being caught by a plague, and started filling her humble blog with random musings, typical outburst + nonsense chatters..

and to cut to the chase, this mummy is now a proud owner of another blog in another platform + ponders on how having a blog is much like havin’ a baby, here are her s-a-h-m’s thoughts:

  • much like feeding a baby, you have to fill you blogs with amusing anecdotes, inspiring stories, latest news if you’re interested and other worthwhile entries to encourage readers + followers to keep coming back, thereby building your blogs lifeline
  • akin to teaching your baby the basics on communication to pave the way for effective social skills for later life, you join clubs, follow other blogs, leave comments to others’ posts + join a host of blog hops + memes to build up you blog’s networking and links
  • much like bathing your baby every single day or sometimes even twice in a day, schedule a regular cleanup of your dashboard, approve every pending comments + make sure you answer every single one (or in this mummy’s case, comment back to the commentators’ blog) + update your sidebar every so often
  • and as if changing your baby’s diapers + disposing of it properly, making sure spam on your blog is exactly where they’re suppose to be, at the spam folder + to trash later (just don’t forget to give a quick review of the folder before you click delete as some legit comments also end up here every once in a while)

as she continues to have her hands doubly filled…
tending to her babies and her blogs, and, to make a happy note, with her online adventure slowly picking up momentum with the recent addition of “article writing” into her much-needed-to-be-updated online cv, this mum, more than ever, needed the most reliable partner she can ever get to make her digital life a breeze, and is only delighted to note that she’s found an able partner in her personal broadband connection, check out her reasons why she needed a consistent surf speed and a very stable signal:

  • downloading + watching jared’s favorite pocoyo episodes
  • scouring the net for useful information, tips + news on parenting, child health + education
  • since time to go out alone rarely come by, much less, going out on dates + movies, she catches up on her friends thru social networking sites, emails + ym, she also looks out for the latest hollywood films to download and watch online
  • she does research for her article writing assignments
  • she needs to be up to date with the latest music news + download
  • she has article writing deadlines to meet
  • aspires to continue earning online so she can continue to stay at home and care for her baby, so she is always on the look out for online work opportunities
  • she has to make the most of what meager budget she sets aside for her passion – reading – and is always on an e-bay hunt for the next second-hand mitch albom, or paulo coelho, or sophie kinsella book available for bidding or purchase

now if only smartbro came up with this promo a year ago when this mum applied for her unlimited home broadband plan 999, she would’ve availed of exciting freebies like an all-in-one hp printer, a free call + texts with smart gold lite plan 300 for 6 months subscription, and a month free broadband subscription! she would’ve grabbed the chance to avail of the promo this year as it may not happen again, but the promo is only up until the 4th of june 2011 + she doesn’t need to renew until february of next year! maybe you can avail of it + get luckier!

meanwhile, this mum will pass the time blog hopping + tending to her online babies as the real one soundly sleeps.

meet me on a monday: my wednesday edition

see i lost track of time + completely forgotten about this fave meme of mine, but hey, better uber late than never so, here goes…

Questions:

1. Do you have a fireplace in your home?
2. Can you drive a stick shift?
3. How many computers are in your home?
4. Are your taxes done yet? Do you do them yourself?
5. What is your favorite meal of the day?

My answers:

1. No fireplace as i live in a tropical country.

2. I can’t drive a car to save my life, that is one of the things i’ve been wanting to learn pre-pregnancy, which i had to give up entirely when i got pregnant + gave birth. i am not giving up on learning though, + will probably learn how to drive in the months or years to come. for now, i’ll contend myself as a commentating passenger!

source

3. surprising as it may sound, there is only one reliable desktop at home. my sis used to own a laptop but sold it to a friend a few months back. so, you can only imagine the riot sharing this computer to the entire household: a baby who needs a daily dose of his pocoyo episodes, a sis who is in dire need of harvesting her wilting veggies in farmtown, a bro who regularly checks every so often if he can continue with his hunt for the most bargain flute he can avail on e-bay, and, yep, don’t forget, the mummy who needs to catch up on her blog memes + blogging whatnots + finish her articles + her catering tasks (which i do now, every once in a while) on cafeworld. if this pc can only talk, i know he’d scream “leave me well enough alone all of you!” but, we’ll see, if i get lucky + be able to have a steady source of income online, maybe i can save enough so i can buy a lappie by year-end. oh, i am so crossing my fingers^^

4. since i am officially unemployed, alas, it also relieves me of any obligation to pay my taxes this year. it’s usually done in the accounting department where i used to work + we will just sign the forms to be submitted to the tax bureau.

5. i guess it had to be dinner, the only meal of the day when everyone is at home.

earth hour 2010

i remember earth hour last year, i was a tad smaller back then, only 7 months (i’ll check with mum if she can upload an old photo of me)…

one saturday in march, my tito + titas turned off all the lights in the house + lit some candles as we huddle up in my tiny room (we’ve changed rooms since then). tita explained that it was for the earth hour and people around the world is doing the same to show their love + support for mother earth. we enjoyed watching the dancing flames from the candles as we played around + the grown ups swapping stories (in between taking turns to fan me of course, as i sweat easily especially in my forehead + back when it is hot) while the hour ticked by. i remember too, that mum has to go to work that day (she constantly hated leaving the house + leaving me behind to go to work), she has not resigned yet! she was irked at the office, she told us when she got home, because they didn’t participated in the earth hour, most of the rest of that area in makati was stark dark except for their office. she wondered if her bosses were from some other planet that they didn’t bother to do something for mother earth. mummy said everyone must do his share. am glad i am doing my part too!

this year, on march 26th, from 8.30pm – 9.30pm, it’s time again to turn off our lights for earth hour. + i was delighted to learn that my best friend, pocoyo, is also participating (see his cute earth hour badge? maybe you can put that on your blog to serve as reminder, just like what i did!). fun earth hour stuffs are available in his site. you can download videos, screensavers, wallpapers + this cool earth hour related activity book that features our other friend, panda. maybe i can ask mum to print that out so i can practice coloring + try out the puzzles too!

i do hope that awfully uncaring boss of my mum will partake this time around, after all mummy earth is the only one we’ve got, i don’t understand their unconcern.  i’d also ask mum to light more candles. maybe we’d take photos + blow huge bubbles or watch the fireflies in my window or the moon (if in case it decides to participate too)!

i am so looking forward to it! it’d be fun.
