it was chinese new year yesterday + mum brought me to where all the exciting things happen at this time of year, the chinese community in manila, to experience this celebration first-hand. it was both our first time + even when we were all tired after the day, it was one amazing experience i know we will be doing again. 🙂

the place was teeming with people everywhere + mum had to remind me loads of times not to wander off + just hold on to her hand while we walk along the people-laden streets lest i might get lost. we first visited the church in tondo before meeting the group of people the we are suppose to be doing the chinese new year walk. this is where mum bought me this snake-shaped balloon, which we had to throw away later on when it got a hole + won’t float anymore….:(

we saw a number of dragon + lion dances, some even has fireworks that went along with the dance exhibition. we did see a number of lucky charms sold by the streets, along with chinese food, fruits, tikoy + other merchandise. mum did not really look around to shop for anything except for some flavored hopia in one of the stores there.

one of the highlights of our tour will have to be the chinese temple stop where mum + i tried lighting some incense and praying, too. it was our first time to be inside a temple. + did you know that this cool temple, apart from a number of huge photos of saints and whatnots, also has free pop corn + ice cream served to all the visitors. i enjoyed the pop corn! 🙂

we saw a number of animals, too, in the restaurant where we had our late lunch. it was a little zoo of some sorts, with an alligator, a turtle and a number of fishes in big tanks. it was a feast to look at.

even though we were tired after a day’s tour, it was well worth it + we might just be going back next year for another exciting chinese new year adventure!

out + about

another playdate with my cousins

last sunday, my cousins + i went out for a playdate. we were supposed to go to activefun in sm north, where mum bought them unlimited playtime vouchers as christmas presents but plans were changed suddenly + we ended up going to the mall instead. so off we went to the nearest mall to our location, sm marilao.

even when we did not get to play non-stop in activefun, we still had a wonderful time together at the mall. our first stop ~ the arcade! we play this cool game where you have to hit animals, insects + other objects with little balls. of course, i cannot hit much since my little arms can only reach up to a certain point in the monitor, it was kuya sean + ate shane, who played mostly. but we all enjoyed this game, in fact, we went to play it one more time after our first round of tokens where used up + mum + tita cecille had to buy more! 😀

we also tried playing other games in the arcade, including my favorite, basketball, + a whole bunch of other slot machines where you’d get a gazillion of those tiny tickets when you hit the jackpot. you can exchange them with fun items from the counter once you reached a certain number of points.

after we used up all our tokens we transfer to this other arcade where they have different rides + games, too! ate shane got this cute angry birds plushy in one of the games. we all rode all the rides available there + when we got tired, we asked mum if we can ride those little motorcycles-for-rent. we had such a great time + we all enjoyed playing all the cool games + riding all the great rides! 😀

we capped the day by having a hearty meal in one of our favorite fast food. we sure had a wonderful time playing together + i really wish we can do this more often! 😀

Unusual Ways to Save for a Trip to Orlando, Florida

There really is no better way to spend a vacation than taking the kids to Orlando, Florida to visit some of the many theme parks there. However, unless you live within driving distance of Orlando, taking such a trip can be pricey. You will need to pay for transportation, hotel, food, and entrance fee to one of the many theme parks. Universal tickets at Universal Studios, Disney Tickets at Disney World ~ the costs really add up. Don’t forget souvenirs and snack foods!

Rather than putting your trip on credit card, find other ways you can save to make your trip a reality. Sure, you should set aside a portion of your paycheck every time you are paid to save for the trip, but there are other small things you can do to grow your savings.

Save all money that you save on purchases. Did you save any money using coupons? Put that money straight into your Disney fund. Did you buy shoes for the kids during a buy one get one half off sale? Take the money you saved and put that in your Disney fund.
Save “free” money. There are plenty of ways to find “free” money. If you open a new bank account that gives you cash for signing up and completing their requirements, don’t absorb that money into your budget; stick it in the Disney fund instead. Do you have a rebate coming to you for a recent purchase? Save that money.
Use the Internet to make money. There are many ways to make money on the Internet that don’t take a lot of time. Start using Swagbucks instead of Google as your search engine. You receive PayPal deposits for your searches and you can put these toward you Disney fund. There are also plenty of survey companies you can work with. You won’t make a fortune doing surveys, but every bit helps.

Once you have saved your hard earned money, don’t forget to buy your Universal Studio tickets from FloridaTix in advance at a discount ticket broker. You will save a significant amount of money on the tickets, which will leave you with more money to enjoy during your vacation.

With some diligence, there are plenty of ways you can add a few hundred dollars per year to your Disney fund in addition to your regular savings.

d is for driver

i went out on a playdate with my cousins again last sunday. we had a wonderful time playing together + what we actually enjoyed the most is riding those fun arcade rides and those motorcycles, too! we were drivers for a day + what more can little kids like us ask for? 😉

out + about, weekend, family, playtime — *captain sean on his ship 😉*

we took turns riding the boat, an airplane + a cool red car {which reminds me so much of my fave, lightning mcqueen!}, so we were captains, + drivers, + pilots for a day. you bet i had a wonderful time, i rode most of them over + over, until we ran out of tokens! 😀 even ate shane enjoyed the rides!

after we tried all the rides available, we went and checked out those cool pocket motorcycles-for-rent, which was just in front of the arcades. although, someone had to assist me while riding since i cannot control the motorcycle on my own yet, it was really quite a fun experience. we’ve even put these cool helmets on before mounting our rides. made us feel like real drivers, won’t you agree? 😉

on to this week’s doodle 🙂

we were at waltermart two sundays ago to accompany my tito ken to scout for a laptop. i was busy looking at these cool car toys from one of the kiosks there when mum called me so we can check out this logico booth. turned out they sell books + other learning materials for little ones. they also have tables + chairs at the ready for anyone who’d like to give their products a try. there are also staff on standby to assist anyone with a cheerful smile.

i guess i was in the mood for a little learning that afternoon so i agreed to give it a shot. kuya who assisted us showed me a picture book, i was to find the correct answer for the corresponding picture on the next page. the images are also numbered from 1 to 16. i first did the similar image exercise, where i was to find the image similar to what is shown me on the next page. it was peanuts! 🙂

the next activity was to find the images that matches the pictures shown to me but this time, i must look for the backside of the photo. i had a little difficulty with some images but i was able to find all the answers correctly! you can tell that mum was so delighted. 🙂

the last activity was a bit difficult for my age, as i was to find the missing part in the picture mum + kuya, as well as my tito + tita jinky, all helped so that i can finish all the photos.

i must say learning is fun, but it gets tiring at some point so we had to get a quick bite at my fave fast food! i totally enjoyed it, though, + would very much like to do it again 🙂
