Even though the word Autism is commonly heard, still there are several speculations about Autism and of the people affected by it. In the Philippines, it is estimated that there are around 1 million people living with Autism, yet not everybody can understand what it it’s like. The Autism spectrum Disorder is a condition where a person who is diagnosed with it will not have the same experiences but are noticed by the core symptoms.

Meet Calel, he is a 6-year old who was diagnosed with ASD {Autism Spectrum Disorder} at the age of four. A year ago, he discovered his love for animals and drawing and once he starts on a sketch pad he just cannot stop – his mother Marie, started posting his artwork on Facebook, when a friend commented that if in the case the drawing is produced to be printed on a t-shirt – he definitely would buy.

After a few months, Marie launched Calel’s Wacky Art Shirts for 3 reasons: to help with Calel’s therapy needs, to develop the business to eventually be taken over by Calel (when he gets older) and to spread Autism awareness.

Anybody would know that Occupational aned Speech therapy is costly, plus there are limited specialists in the Philippines. Kids with ASD need to attend SPED (Special Education) classes which can cost up to 60,000Php a year. For every shirt purchased, this will help Calel’s parents to make sure he gets the special treatments that he needs.

Calel’s future is still unclear at the age of 6, he shows signs of progress but it is hard to tell if he will be able to live a normal life or yet alone become employed, if this becomes a success, Calel’s Wacky Art Shirts may become his own business to handle.

With the first batch of t-shirts printed and distributed, people that order have started to ask about Calel and his condition ~ this helps Marie to talk about Autism and educate them on what Calel and their parents experience day-to-day including the highs and low.

There are so many designs to choose from and each is unique which you will surely love. T-shirt’s come in kids, men, and women’s sizes.

Calel’s Wacky Art Shirts are being offered at introductory prizes for the first 100 customers.

kid for a cause, Christmas, charity for children, kids charity, press release

Save the Children Philippines launches  ‘Lahat Santa’, inviting all individuals,
companies, associations, and schools to become a hero for the country’s children this Christmas

Save the Children launches its new Christmas campaign #LahatSanta, giving everyone an exciting opportunity to become Santa to poor kids.

“In the Philippines, 1 in 3 children suffers from stunted growth due to hunger and malnutrition, and this means that they won’t be able to reach their full potential. Poor families struggle to feed their children and it’s estimated that 1.5 million Filipino children go to sleep hungry every night, not having eaten a thing all day,” says Dr. Amado Parawan, Save the Children’s Health and Nutrition Advisor.

Be a hero, wear a Santa sombrero!

Lahat Santa is a new fun way to celebrate Christmas! Save the Children encourages individuals, schools and companies to wear their Santa hats, raise funds in their own creative way and make the holidays much more meaningful by donating to Save the Children’s programs.

Upon signing up on www.lahatsanta.ph, participants get a free fundraising kit which includes a coin bank, Christmas poster, and a Santa hat. The kit includes ways you can fundraise, from bake sale to the good old Christmas caroling – it is up to the participants how they’ll spread the cheer.

On the day of action on December 15

Save the Children calls on participants to put on their Santa hats and shout out on social media how they are fundraising for Save the Children using hashtag #LahatSanta. The fun does not stop here. On December 17, a fun run will be organized to benefit Save the Children’s Christmas campaign.

Filipino artists and influencers such as Ria Atayde, Bianca Guidotti, Jeushl Wensh Tiu, and Trish Ramos have also expressed interest in the campaign. Many reputable companies have also come together to support Save the Children’s campaign, including BPI Foundation, Family Mart, Strong Media Advertising Solutions Inc., Light Network, Nyxsys, OLX, ANC, Business Mirror, Page One, Manila Scope, Philippine Graphic, Lamudi, Manila Times, Manila Bulletin, Manila Business Insight, Pilipino Mirror, Zen Health and When In Manila,

“With every Lahat Santa hat comes great responsibility. Your commitment to Lahat Santa campaign could mean life-saving support for a child. Your donation can provide treatment to babies suffering from malnutrition and help expand our programs that could impact their lives in the long run, Save the Children’s Head of Strategic Partnerships, Riel Andaluz, reminds the public.

Are You Excited About The Lego Batman Movie?

announcement, movies, my favorite things, Batman, superheroes

I absolutely loved The Lego Movie shown in 2014, that is why I was very excited when I found out about The Lego Batman movie! Batman is one of my favorite DC superheroes {I’ve watched his Lego short films many times + love playing his Lego games, too!} and it will be a treat to see him on the big screen with mum + dad.

The Lego Batman Movie is hitting local cinemas on 09 February and will feature Will Arnett {who also voiced our caped hero in the first Lego film} as the voice of our favorite Gotham City son, Bruce Wayne, + the caped crusader, Batman. The story will be all about Batman going “on a personal journey to find himself and learn the importance of teamwork and friendship in the hopes of saving Gotham City from a hostile takeover set by The Joker” according to Wikipedia. The film will also feature the voices of Jonah Hill {Green Lantern} + mum’s fave, Ralph Fiennes as our favorite butler, Alfred.

This sure will be an exciting film + I cannot wait to see the bat dude battle his archenemy, The Joker. Are you excited, too! Will have mum check local cinema times for this film after she’s reading about this interesting website, http://www.guitarcenter.com/Toontrack/.
