it was chinese new year yesterday + mum brought me to where all the exciting things happen at this time of year, the chinese community in manila, to experience this celebration first-hand. it was both our first time + even when we were all tired after the day, it was one amazing experience i know we will be doing again. 🙂

the place was teeming with people everywhere + mum had to remind me loads of times not to wander off + just hold on to her hand while we walk along the people-laden streets lest i might get lost. we first visited the church in tondo before meeting the group of people the we are suppose to be doing the chinese new year walk. this is where mum bought me this snake-shaped balloon, which we had to throw away later on when it got a hole + won’t float anymore….:(

we saw a number of dragon + lion dances, some even has fireworks that went along with the dance exhibition. we did see a number of lucky charms sold by the streets, along with chinese food, fruits, tikoy + other merchandise. mum did not really look around to shop for anything except for some flavored hopia in one of the stores there.

one of the highlights of our tour will have to be the chinese temple stop where mum + i tried lighting some incense and praying, too. it was our first time to be inside a temple. + did you know that this cool temple, apart from a number of huge photos of saints and whatnots, also has free pop corn + ice cream served to all the visitors. i enjoyed the pop corn! 🙂

we saw a number of animals, too, in the restaurant where we had our late lunch. it was a little zoo of some sorts, with an alligator, a turtle and a number of fishes in big tanks. it was a feast to look at.

even though we were tired after a day’s tour, it was well worth it + we might just be going back next year for another exciting chinese new year adventure!

on to this week’s doodle 🙂

we were at waltermart two sundays ago to accompany my tito ken to scout for a laptop. i was busy looking at these cool car toys from one of the kiosks there when mum called me so we can check out this logico booth. turned out they sell books + other learning materials for little ones. they also have tables + chairs at the ready for anyone who’d like to give their products a try. there are also staff on standby to assist anyone with a cheerful smile.

i guess i was in the mood for a little learning that afternoon so i agreed to give it a shot. kuya who assisted us showed me a picture book, i was to find the correct answer for the corresponding picture on the next page. the images are also numbered from 1 to 16. i first did the similar image exercise, where i was to find the image similar to what is shown me on the next page. it was peanuts! 🙂

the next activity was to find the images that matches the pictures shown to me but this time, i must look for the backside of the photo. i had a little difficulty with some images but i was able to find all the answers correctly! you can tell that mum was so delighted. 🙂

the last activity was a bit difficult for my age, as i was to find the missing part in the picture mum + kuya, as well as my tito + tita jinky, all helped so that i can finish all the photos.

i must say learning is fun, but it gets tiring at some point so we had to get a quick bite at my fave fast food! i totally enjoyed it, though, + would very much like to do it again 🙂

hello everyone! i hope you’re enjoying the particularly sunny day. it is time again for another round of kids in doodles and for this week we shall be talking about the gifts we got last christmas! am sure you received a number of them + it is now time to show them off to the world! 😀

i received a couple of gifts from my loved ones and family, including this cool wreck-it-ralph toy, which my dad gave me. i also got a pair of new die-cast cars from mum + dad, this time it’s the best pals, luigi + guido. mum also gave me a set of wooden alphabet + a big lightning mcqueen plushy. my tita jinky gave me this cool ironman action figure. i got an awesome bubble set from my ninang ella + this wonderful basketball playset from my ninang jackie. tita hapon also gifted me with a spongebob coloring book that includes a number of coloring materials + a bunch of stickers.

apologies that we’re posting kids in doodles rather late this week. i’ve been busy watching all these wonderful cartoons mum has downloaded for me she does not have time to upload any of her blogs in the morning. oh well, now that mum’s updating this blog, it only means that i am off to zzzz land faraway! 😉

that out the way, on to our doodle story for this week. i got this lightning mcqueen bike for my third birthday. it was given by my tita jinky, tita cecille + tito ken. i was so excited to ride it the first time i saw it! ^_^

we’ve never really gone too far with my bike, we only get to ride it in the confines of our garage since mum won’t allow me to go out on the streets with it. she said i need to learn how to pedal first before we take to the streets! i tell you, it is rather difficult to learn how to pedal, my little legs can only do so much. so how do i ride the bike, anyway, you’d ask? mum would hold both my feet + pedal for me. or most times, she’d just push me around the garage so that i can pretend am actually biking!

hopefully i’d be able to learn how to ride my bike properly, i swear i’d practice every single day if i had to! am excited to bring it to the park or to the memorial during weekends. hmm, which reminds me, i need to tell mum to bring the bike to the nearest gas station or bike shop, so we can have the flat tires fixed! 😉

kids in doodles: a few more holiday photos

kids in doodles time again girls + boys + before anything else, allow me to send virtual shout outs to our lone participant for last week’s editions:

1. read on as maithankfulheart recall the beautiful memories of 2012 + welcome the new year

the holidays is simply the most colorful + festive season of the year + i perfectly understood why we can’t get enough of it, even when it has been a week already. so this is my sort of last hooray for the holidays. we never really get to look around + hunt for santa as mum originally planned as i was a bit ill during that weekend leading to christmas with a mild case of colds + coughs. my mum even decided to bring me to my pedia just to be sure am not suffering from anything serious. it was a relieve to find out that there is really nothing to worry about. it was also probably the reason why mum did not force me to take down the medicine my doctor prescribed 😉

so these are truly the only photos we had of the season. the first one was taken in front of the huge christmas tree in cubao when we watched disney on ice, a day after christmas. i have yet to post about it. the second photo was taken when i had my playdate with my pal, rylan. we managed to look around a bit + snap some shots of the colorful outdoor park just outside the packed shopping mall.

this last photo was also taken the same day. we were just strolling around the mall in between destinations + mum spotted this santa claus in one of my fave fast foods. tita moi snapped it, but i guess i was rather preoccupied with other things that i was not looking at the camera!
