Ethan Jared Turns One! loot bags, giveaways, etc…

for jared’s kiddie lootbags, i preordered personalized pocoyo lootbags from chocolatefund (which i got for 16php each including a personalized card tag, which my bro, ken designed)

for the contents i asked my sis, cel, to buy these from divi. i included bubbles (jared’s favorite), personalized pocoyo stickers, mini coloring books and keychains (which i got from ebay ), personalized matchbook notes (also from chocolatefund, which i got for cheap!), pens, stickers, nail art for the girls, pencils, erasers and mini face towels and i’ve thrown in some sweets as treat as well.

for the adults i ordered personalized cupcakes (which spelled out “ethan jared turns one” and “happy birthday ethan jared!”

i nicked the idea of a diy standee from the SP Forum and had a photo of jared taken especially for the purpose. again, i have to ask my bro’s help to cut out the tarp otherwise i will have it all ruined, no thanks to my “pasmado” hands! i love the diy standee we’ve created and so does jared, he thinks it is another kid and he wants to play with him!
for the piñata, i was thinking of wrapping a box with japanese paper then sticking pocoyo photos on it but in the end, we just made a box out of illustration board and put colored photos of pocoyo and the gang on it, plus the lovely birthday logo that my brother also created. i loved how it turned out and we filled it with candies and goodies the children enjoyed so much.
i just loved how everything turned out, i guess for your son’s very first birthday you would really love to give your best to give him the best, and i don’t really mean you spend thousands of pesos, small gestures plus a whole lot of labor of love goes a long, long mile….
so tell me about your child’s first birthday preparations, i’d love to hear from you, do get in touch with me at vixenp33 at gmail dot com…cheers!

a brush with separation anxiety

it is official i now have a toddler and gone are the days when i can leave him for hours at best in his crib while playing with his toys or watching pocoyo or reading (more of tearing) a book while i do the chores, wash his feeding bottles, do the laundry, or take a bath or eat my meals.  now he wants less of play, of books, of pocoyo and yes, even less of his food and eating. it seems all he wants to do all day is walk/toddle around.
since he’s managed to walk (groping at things, yes including mummy, to make his way around the room) he is unstoppable. he is excited to explore the world beyond the realms of his four-cornered crib and who am i to stop him? so our new routine goes: in the morning before he bathes he has to do his morning walk, meaning he will walk around the room, the kitchen when he gets tired of the room, and the rest of the house when he is done with the kitchen. and yes, i’ll be prepared to have my hands swiped several times as if telling me “ma, no more hands, as if he thinks he is big enough to do it on his own”
when we went to activefun, the gracious assistant there took jared in her hands leading him to the play area, which my baby happily received and as if totally forgetting that i was there allowed her to lead him away, remove his shoes for him. and i was like almost on the verge of panic. i almost cried “no, give me back my baby, there is no way am letting him play there without me regardless of who assists him!” but sooner than i mastered the courage to launch into that litany, sooner than i figured out what just happened — yeah i realize belatedly that i was having a severe case of separation anxiety, which prior to this i only thought existed in toddlers and preschoolers — jared was on the floor playing, exploring and having so much fun, with the assistant in tow (apologies to her, don’t take it personal!)
he’s grown so fast and am now thinking my happy days will soon be over, soon i can no longer keep him to myself, i can no longer keep him from the world. one day soon he will discover the world outside of his mom’s embrace and he will eventually have to go out there. but am not just ready yet…maybe i still have a good five years until i will be ready to let him spread his wings.
don’t grow up just yet my baby, we still have loads of baby/mummy bonding stuffs to do before i let you on your own. i still want to hug you some more, kiss you some more (cause i know kisses will be scarce once you’ve become a “man”) make you wear cute baby costumes and bring you to professional photographer before you learn how to complain and love you some more, and somehow there seems to be not much time to show you that each day.
another fit of separation anxiety coming through, i only hope vitamin e can keep it at bay!

meet me on monday 03

1. Do you sleep with a night light on?
2. What do you drink with dinner?
3. Do you play the lottery? If so, how often?
4. How often do you go to the grocery store?

5. Would you rather travel back in time 500 years or travel forward 500 year?

no thanks to my fickle internet connection, and to typhoon Juan and the distraction that the barangay elections bring, am doing my meet me on monday third edition this lovely wednesday morning, pardon me…

1. Do you sleep with a night light on?

have always preferred it pitch black lest i will have a hard time falling asleep, but of late, and since my baby was born, for both our sake and safety i have to leave the night light on

2. What do you drink with dinner?
a glass of ice cold  water does the trick all the time! or other times i could use a glass of iced tea.

3. Do you play the lottery? If so, how often?

i play it once in a blue moon but i’d love to win the jackpot one day

4. How often do you go to the grocery store?

as often as i possible can. this has become sort of a therapy for me. i go to the groceries when am bored, thinking hard what else to buy for the kitchen cupboard.   It helps to pass the time and keeps me and my toddler entertained.  Of course, sometimes, someone really has to replenish the pantry.

5. Would you rather travel back in time 500 years or travel forward 500 years?

I would like to believe that I am an old soul and quite intrigued with things of the past, the hoopla, the scandals, the wardrobe and basically the wonder that is our history.  Going back in time 500 years will be a treat!
