this week i would like to share this song, a beautiful lie (lyrics here) by 30 seconds to mars. this band is comprised of brothers jared + shannon leto + guitarist Tomo Miličević. i’ve only listened several times to a couple of songs by this band (the rest of the album lay untouched on my ipod) but every time i do, it was like they’d inspire you to do good in the world + to make something worthwhile of yourself, it’s epic! in this song, they lent their creativity to address climate change + nature degradation in the world today. you would also like to check out their cool rendition of lady gaga’s bad romance.

 

why the band name:

“For us, the name 30 Seconds To Mars has little to do with space, the universe or anything like that. It is a name that works on several different levels. Most importantly, it is a good representation of our sound. It’s a phrase that is lyrical, suggestive, cinematic, and filled with immediacy. It has some sense of otherness to it. The concept of space is so overwhelming and all encompassing I doubt there is a song written that doesn’t fall within it.”~ Jared Leto

in lay man’s term, they got it from an online thesis with a chapter aptly named “30 seconds to mars” indicating our physical distance from our neighboring planet.

    also their This Is War song
    though sometimes they are being compared to Linkin Park but of course, both of them are different and unique in their own special ways
