so healthy, soyami…

a few weeks back i attended my very first mummy blogger event, which turned out to be the product launch for AM Global Works Marketing Corp.’s revolutionary healthy snack, SOYAMI!

now baby, wait till you get a bit older before eating that…
Soyami veers away from your usual MSG-laden junk food and boast of its healthy ingredient, the mighty soya which is known for it’s health benefits such as reducing the risk of certain cancer types, helping lower bad cholesterol, and even eliminating menopausal symptoms. Soyami is high in protein and fiber and is low in fat, sugar and calories.  Now for someone who’s been a vegetarian for almost five years, soya has been a part of my staple, taking different forms: as viand (fried tofu), as a healthy and yummy breakfast (taho), and now, finally, as guilt-free, nutritious snack. it comes in three exciting flavors: Original, White Cheddar and Pizza. my  so whatever your snacking preference maybe, there is a Soyami treat that’s right for your taste (mine’s Pizza!)  in fact, since it is very healthy, i’ll give it to jared during mirienda time when he gets a bit older.

Soyami will be available in leading supermarkets and groceries by early November.
For more details just hop on to their website or contact Ms. Angel or Howard 975-0740.

And don’t forget to tell me your fave flavor..enjoy snacking!

bloggy moms writer’s workshop

Where Moms Who Blog Go!

This weeks topic is

 – Tackle It! –.

This weeks prompt is to tell us about a chore/project/job you’ve been putting off or recently completed.  Why did you put it off?  What are the steps to completion?  How did you feel once it was done?
am glad i stumble upon this prompt from bloggy moms, it inspired me to take some action and hopefully finish some of the stuffs that i have been putting off for a while now (namely doing the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, and little cleaning here and there that have accumulated in the past week due to my inaction or just plain lazyness!) and make a blog out of it!

the thought of cleaning the bathroom is a dread in itself, but the other day i just went ahead and get on with the task.  some grime and dirt have gathered in nooks and crannies in the bathroom since the last time it was cleaned.  i worry too much that my son, now having to bathe in the bathroom since he is really bigger, as opposed to lagging his bathtub in the sink and bathing him there, might catch something from the bathroom cause every time i bathe him he would touch the floor tiles or run his little, chubby fingers on the wall and that would send me to spasms of fear, my mind blaring “this is the filthiest part of the house, don’t you dare touch that thing!”.  but i guess, we can’t help it, babies are born curious and they have this urge to explore their surrounding and whatever they see in there, so i just let him explore the loo and the germs that go about with it whilst keeping my fingers crossed!

now, i know that i have put off that task unnecessarily, swamped with the daily chores of mothering and housekeeping, there is just too much on my plate and the last thing i want to do is spend my afternoon  rendezvousing with the bathroom brush and lysol! but someone’s got to do the dirty work around somehow, right? so with less energy and even lesser enthusiasm, the other day right before i take a bath, i scrubbed, brushed the afternoon away, in the bathroom.  after 20 minutes or so, i paused and enjoyed my handy work. the bathroom is now spic and span and with a lemony scent, fab!

well done, mummy, pat yourself on the back now! and cheers to less worries whenever my son takes a beeline to the bathroom.  the germfree bathroom should last us until early next week, after which i need to clean the bloody thing again! but that is for another post altogether, for now let me just revel in my success story, take a break and breathe in some fresh air.
Now, let me hear your story….

diaper booboo…

i have been an EQ Dry  user since jared was 4 months, a good mummy friend of mine, who also happens to be jared’s godmother, jannai, gave me a  pack as a baptismal gift so i can try it.  her baby jolo is also using the same brand. it was the best for my baby (hiyang in our vernacular), gone are the dappy leak so i’m sure that my son is getting enough sleep every night, and the nasty rash that he got from other nappies we’ve tried. happy baby equals happy mummy and everything seems rosy!

in may am only too glad when i found out that they are having  the EQ Dry Baby’s 1st Chair and Desk promo.  i’ll be hitting two birds with one stone you see.  my problem on how to dispose of the diaper packagings is solved plus i can get a premium item in return. it’s all good!i only need to collect 42 points worth of diaper packaging and am all set. a fellow SP mommy, Irish, even gave me 10-point worth of packs and am very greatful.

i sent the parcel thru jrs express last july 30, just in time for the promo’s deadline, bearing in mind that i will only have to wait a month for my premium items to arrive, i’m delighted that the parcel will arrive just in time for jared’s 1st birthday, it couldn’t get any better than that, right?

so i waited, one, two, three days passed, and what do you know a month passed and no sign of my parcel from the postman…i’ve waited two months or so after i finally resigned and convinced my self that probably my parcel got lost in transit! then i checked the SP Forum and found out i wasn’t the only one. in fact, a lot of mummies were wondering where have all our premium items gone! one even checked with jsunitrade but was greeted by a non-enthusiastic personnel. how sad and irresponsible is that?!

then the other day, i was facebooking (yes, i think this is an actual word) and saw a widget of eq diapers on my sidebars and it piqued my interest so i hurry on to the page. it turned out EQ Diapers has just recently joined Facebook and they have also recently came out with a website of their own, EQ Diapers.

i posted a comment on their wall asking about my premium items and they quickly get back to me saying they will send a message to address the concern.  and after a while they posted this on their wall :

Thank You for joining EQ Dry Baby’s 1st chair and Desk redemption promo. We are sorry for the delay of the delivery of your premium item/s. Rest assured that all your entries are being processed. Please expect the delivery of you premium item/s between 1st to 3rd week of December 2010.

now at least we still have reason enough to wait and not harass the postman suspecting he decided to bring home our parcel and we can now sit back thinking that the precious time and effort we give to the promo will not go to waste. so sit back mummies and let’s wait some more..

Plus, in celebration of their newly established website, EQ Diaper invites you to become a member of  EQ Club. i’ve attached the registration form here. the first 100 members win special gift packs plus your baby get to have the EQ club card, so sign up now and let us see how they fair on this one…

Friday Fill-Ins 02

This is my take on Friday Fill-Ins #195

1. Wow, it’s 34 days to go before The Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

2.  Life is beautiful.

3. My favorite way to start a day is with a warm hug and smile from my son and a steaming mug of  chocolate.

4. Jared toddles outside and he walked in the door holding a pumpkin.

5. I look out my window and see my mum’s sampaguitas in full bloom

6. Baby Jayjay is what I’ve been thinking about lately.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to having a sound sleep for a change, tomorrow my plans include visiting the developer to see the house and Sunday, I want to go to SM City Marilao 3Day Sale!
Now, let me hear your version!

Baby Jayjay – Support my Spine

Aldred Josh Lorenzo was born on August 04,2010

My sister, Cecille was browsing through the net late last night when she came across the facebook page of her college classmate Jennifer Lorenzo.  We saw the pictures of her very cute baby Jayjay and we where grief-stricken to find out about his condition.

Jay-jay is suffering from Meningocele. A developmental birth defect caused by the incomplete closure of the spinal cord.  This is a life threatening condition. He suffers from the incomplete growth of his spine and a cyst formed in his lower back. He could not totally moved his lower limbs (but hopefully he can walk if a surgery will be done). His head is under observation if it would not enlarge, if so, a tube will be placed underneath his skull to avoid the enlargement and infections.

Jay-jay needs to undergo a series of hospitalization, medications and surgery. The cyst and the situation of his spine could worsen if not treated early. The surgery itself would cost Php250, 000.00  (medications and hospital bills not yet included). The family’s financial situation could not afford any of it but they will do anything to fight for their baby’s life.

Tears just welled out of my eyes when i saw this photo of Baby Jayjay and i can only imagine the magnitude of his mother’s suffering but more so, the magnitude of her love for her baby, and i know she will do anything in her power to fight for his baby’s life.
Am trying to help the best that i know how, by spreading the words about Baby Jayjay and hopefully finding good samaritans like you to help his family in this time of need. An organization, SPINE, has been established to raise funds for Baby Jayjay and here are a few simple ways we can do to help extend this little angels life..

Can-for-a-Good-Cause – cans to collect coins to support Baby Jayjay’s operations were put up in stores and several companies. Your spare coins can save his life.
Your Junk, My Hopeyou may contact SPINE to collect your trash, anything you may want to throw away, proceeds of which will go to Baby Jayjay’s funds
You can also avail of SPINE services such as T-shirt printing, magazine and website layouts and photo coverage. 100% proceeds will go to Baby Jayjay’s funds as well.
Your cash donations will be much appreciated and you can contact SPINE for details

Lastly, but never to be underestimated, Baby Jayjay and his family also need our prayers for a successful operation and strength to see their family through this dark time.

Kindly visit SPINE on Facebook for more details..
