Jared’s Mailbox: Vintage Batman + Robin Postcard

I recently received this postcard from the mail. It was my Tita Jinky who swapped this for me because she knows that I love Batman, yes, including the old version. This one is from the Batman TV series that featured Adam West as our favorite caped crusader.

This is what Wiki has to say about Batman TV series:

Batman is a 1960s American live action television series, based on the DC comic book character of the same name. It stars Adam West as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Burt Ward as Dick Grayson / Robin ~ two crime-fighting heroes who defend Gotham City from a variety of arch villains. It is known for its camp style, upbeat theme music, and its intentionally humorous, simplistic morality {aimed at its largely teenage audience}. This included championing the importance of using seat belts, doing homework, eating vegetables, and drinking milk. It was described by executive producer William Dozier as the only situation comedy on the air without a laugh track. The 120 episodes aired on the ABC network for three seasons from January 12, 1966 to March 14, 1968, twice weekly for the first two and weekly for the third. In 2016, television critics Alan Sepinwall and Matt Zoller Seitz ranked Batman as the 82nd greatest American television show of all time.

I have yet to see this series but mum said she used to watch it when she was younger when it was aired in a local channel. Although I prefer the modern Bat-suit and the modern actors who portrayed this superhero, I do believe that Adam West did a great job and he was a cool Batman. I also enjoy seeing his Lego version in the Lego Batman Movie game.

This is an awesome superhero postcard + I love having this in my collection. My mum has build up my collection over the years + she plans to add some more this year as she re-activates our postcrossing.com profiles so we can send and received more cards. She hopes to have me write my own cards for sending. I guess we will see if I am up to the task. 🙂

So, do you love Batman + are you also into postcrossing?

Hapy Meal Toys 2017 ~ Despicable Me 3!

I just love the Despicable Me bunch! Gru is cool, the girls are all cute, + the minions are awesome! That is why I enjoy watching their films over again and playing with my old Happy Meal minion toys. I was also lucky to complete the set of Minions Happy Meal toys from a few years ago. It is also the reason why I am excited about the new Despicable Me 3 film + the Happy Meal toys!

minions, toys, collections, happy meal toys

Just before I went back to school, we were able to get a complete set of the new Happy Meal Despicable Me 3 toys. The set includes the following toys:

  1. Agnes Rockin’ Unicorn {Agnes rocks back + forth if you move her unicorn ride}
  2. Despicable Duo {a cool car that has a surprise inside, a photo of Gru + Dru}
  3. Minion Antics {this minion’s arm rotates when you push the button at its back}
  4. Crab Bite Minion {his hat flies off when you push the red button on his backpack}
  5. Banana Launcher Minion {the purple anchor launches when you push the purple end of the Banana Launcher}
  6. Playful Minion {his tongue sticks out when you push at the “G” icon on his over-alls
  7. Groovin’ Minion {press it to the floor to see its arms alternately move up + down}
  8. Rocket Launcher Minion {push his wheels forward to see him zoom backwards}
  9. Pumping Iron Minion {move the lever on its back from left to write to see him pump his iron up + down}
  10. Minion Hydrocycle Surprise {the back of his ride pops + reveal a minion inside when the front wheel bumps into something}

minions, toys, collections, happy meal toys

I am happy to add these toys to my minion collections. They are all my favorites but I think the Despicable Duo is my most favorite because it has Gru and his twin brother, Dru. The minions in prison uniform are also cool because they remind me of Scofield + Lincoln from mum’s favorite tv series. ^_^

Are you also collecting the Despicable Me 3 Happy Meal toys? Which one is your favorite? 🙂

off the shelf: doc hudson from cars

I absolutely love Cars! Mum + dad has been buying me diecast Cars ever since I was a little tot in hopes of completing each and every character from the film and its sequel. So far, I already have a handful of them, including Lightning McQueen, his mate, Mater, Sarge, Fillmore, Luigi + Guido, Red, Sheriff, Finn McMissile, Holly Shiftwell, + Italian racer Francesco Bernoulli.

For last Christmas, my parents got me another Cars diecast to add to my collection ~ Doc Hudson.

Here’s a short background about Doc Hudson from Wikipedia:

Doc Hudson {voiced by Paul Newman in his last non-documentary film role} is Radiator Springs’ local physician. His license plate read 51HHMD, which is a reference to his year and track number (51), model {Hudson Hornet} and profession {medical doctor}. A racer-turned-mechanic, the character has Newman’s blue eyes.

Did you know that Doc Hudson is based on the real-life Fabulous Hudson Hornet in NASCAR competition? It was introduced in 1951 and manufactured until 1954.
