Jared’s Mailbox: Vintage Batman + Robin Postcard

I recently received this postcard from the mail. It was my Tita Jinky who swapped this for me because she knows that I love Batman, yes, including the old version. This one is from the Batman TV series that featured Adam West as our favorite caped crusader.

This is what Wiki has to say about Batman TV series:

Batman is a 1960s American live action television series, based on the DC comic book character of the same name. It stars Adam West as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Burt Ward as Dick Grayson / Robin ~ two crime-fighting heroes who defend Gotham City from a variety of arch villains. It is known for its camp style, upbeat theme music, and its intentionally humorous, simplistic morality {aimed at its largely teenage audience}. This included championing the importance of using seat belts, doing homework, eating vegetables, and drinking milk. It was described by executive producer William Dozier as the only situation comedy on the air without a laugh track. The 120 episodes aired on the ABC network for three seasons from January 12, 1966 to March 14, 1968, twice weekly for the first two and weekly for the third. In 2016, television critics Alan Sepinwall and Matt Zoller Seitz ranked Batman as the 82nd greatest American television show of all time.

I have yet to see this series but mum said she used to watch it when she was younger when it was aired in a local channel. Although I prefer the modern Bat-suit and the modern actors who portrayed this superhero, I do believe that Adam West did a great job and he was a cool Batman. I also enjoy seeing his Lego version in the Lego Batman Movie game.

This is an awesome superhero postcard + I love having this in my collection. My mum has build up my collection over the years + she plans to add some more this year as she re-activates our postcrossing.com profiles so we can send and received more cards. She hopes to have me write my own cards for sending. I guess we will see if I am up to the task. 🙂

So, do you love Batman + are you also into postcrossing?

Out + About: Instant Weekend Playdate

We do not go out on playdates that often because most of my mum’s friends with kids live far. I seldom see them and mostly on special occasions, like birthdays and the likes. That is why I am really very excited when my classmate, Anthony, and I had an instant playdate today!

It was his baby brother’s christening and while everyone was busy feasting on the yummy food his family prepared for the guests, we were busy playing with his Nerf guns on the street. Mum had to accompany us because I, for one, is not really used to playing outside.

It was awesome to play and spend time outdoors! We surely enjoyed playing together on the streets, good thing there weren’t too many cars out that day.

We are excited to play together again soon and I will ask mum when we can visit my classmate’s place for another playdate! They live quite near our place so I am guessing it will be soon.

What’s your favorite game to do for playdates and when was the last time you did?

Jared’s Doodle Version By Googly Gooeys

Mum is a huge fan of Googly Gooeys and she often checks their page for cool updates. A few months ago, mum won a book from their giveaway and recently she got me this cool illustration, too! I thought he looks like me. This was modeled after my photo taken a few months back when we went to see Lightning McQueen at SM North The Block. What do you think, do they look the same? 🙂

Drawing is one of mum’s frustrations + if she would be given the chance she would love to enroll me in a drawing or sketching class so I can be good at the craft. Did you know she also dreams of me being an illustrator when I grow up? Let’s see if it is something I would like to pursue when I am much bigger. For now, enjoy this cool drawing.

Thank you so much, Googly Gooeys for this! If you also love art, you might want to check the Googly Gooey website for awesome articles, giveaways, + their workshop schedules. Don’t forget to follow their Instagram + Facebook pages for creative inspiration + for cool + fun updates on their little man, Riley! 🙂

Dressing Up As Harry Potter

Mum recently re-posted this photo of me from several Halloweens ago when I dressed as Harry Potter. This is to commemorate the glorious 20 years of our favorite wizard of all! My mum + her siblings’ fascination for the wizarding world of JK Rowling is slowly rubbing in on me + I think it won’t be long now until I read our hardbound books! It is just waiting for when I am ready for their pages! But I have already seen the film versions a number of times! 🙂

For this costume, we got a ready-made black robe from a shop in the city center + borrowed my tito‘s wand. For the finishing touch, we bought the rimmed-glass from a vendor in the market for Php20 {about $0.39} and viola, I transformed into Harry! Do you think I look like him? 🙂

It is only several months before Halloween + I hope I’d still fit into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Raphael costume mum got me earlier this year. I will wear it to the Halloween celebration in school or if not, mum promised we’d join a local Trick Or Treat activity so I can wear my costume. I am excited! Who are you going to be this Halloween? 🙂
