kids in doodles: visiting our national hero’s monument

kids in doodles, out + about, weekend

i visited rizal park for the first time 2 saturdays ago when mum met up with her friends who love swapping postcards. the place was really huge and you’d have a hard time exploring the entire place. i simply love the fountain in the middle, too bad they only get to open it later in the afternoon, but i really love the cool dancing lights display by nighttime. there are a lot of families spending their afternoon there at the time, maybe because it is a weekend. it sure looks like a perfect place to unwind, some people rented mats so they can sit on the grassy ground and have a picnic. come to think of it, mum + i should’ve done that! πŸ˜‰

we went to explore the chess park, where the concrete tables are designed with chess boards and where all the chess enthusiasts meet to play their favorite games.we checked out the chinese garden, too. + we also get to see the monument of jose rizal, our national hero, who happens to be the main attraction in this park, and where the park got its name, too. we even have photos taken with it as our backdrop. can Β you spot me in the photo?

it sure is one good place to visit, i can spend hours just looking at the fountain + running in the grass. and probably pick more of those white flowers, too! kuya kendrick + i entertained ourselves by picking those flowers + pretending they were helicopters dropping from the sky! ^_^

too bad we were not able to ride the train or the horse-driven carriage. i will make sure to try those the next time we visit!

have you been to somewhere interesting lately? share your fun stories with us + link up your entries here. do not forget to visit our other playmates, too, right? i shall wait for those doodles then! have a good one! πŸ˜€

kids in doodles: kung hei fat choi

kids in doodles, out + about, occasions, chinese new year, greetings, weekend

it was chinese new year yesterday + mum brought me to where all the exciting things happen at this time of year, the chinese community in manila, to experience this celebration first-hand. it was both our first time + even when we were all tired after the day, it was one amazing experience i know we will be doing again. πŸ™‚

the place was teeming with people everywhere + mum had to remind me loads of times not to wander off + just hold on to her hand while we walk along the people-laden streets lest i might get lost. we first visited the church in tondo before meeting the group of people the we are suppose to be doing the chinese new year walk. this is where mum bought me this snake-shaped balloon, which we had to throw away later on when it got a hole + won’t float anymore….:(

we saw a number of dragon + lion dances, some even has fireworks that went along with the dance exhibition. we did see a number of lucky charms sold by the streets, along with chinese food, fruits, tikoy + other merchandise. mum did not really look around to shop for anything except for some flavored hopia in one of the stores there.

one of the highlights of our tour will have to be the chinese temple stop where mum + i tried lighting some incense and praying, too. it was our first time to be inside a temple. + did you know that this cool temple, apart from a number of huge photos of saints and whatnots, also has free pop corn + ice cream served to all the visitors. i enjoyed the pop corn! πŸ™‚

we saw a number of animals, too, in the restaurant where we had our late lunch. it was a little zoo of some sorts, with an alligator, a turtle and a number of fishes in big tanks. it was a feast to look at.

even though we were tired after a day’s tour, it was well worth it + we might just be going back next year for another exciting chinese new year adventure!

time for you to share your chinese new year adventure with us {it is okay if you have another story to tell, as well},Β add one of these badgesΒ + link up. try visiting the other players, too, to make our game twice the fun! i shall wait for your entries then.Β

by the way, last week’s kids in doodles linky will be open for a couple of hours more, so you might want to link up there, too! πŸ˜‰

here’s to a happy week ahead + kung hei fat choi everyone! πŸ˜€

another playdate with my cousins

playtime, playdate, family, cousins, weekend, out + about, weekend

last sunday, my cousins + i went out for a playdate. we were supposed to go to activefun in sm north, where mum bought them unlimited playtime vouchers as christmas presents but plans were changed suddenly + we ended up going to the mall instead. so off we went to the nearest mall to our location, sm marilao.

even when we did not get to play non-stop in activefun, we still had a wonderful time together at the mall. our first stop ~ the arcade! we play this cool game where you have to hit animals, insects + other objects with little balls. of course, i cannot hit much since my little arms can only reach up to a certain point in the monitor, it was kuya sean + ateΒ shane, who played mostly. but we all enjoyed this game, in fact, we went to play it one more time after our first round of tokens where used up + mum + tita cecille had to buy more! πŸ˜€

we also tried playing other games in the arcade, including my favorite, basketball, + a whole bunch of other slot machines where you’d get a gazillion of those tiny tickets when you hit the jackpot. you can exchange them with fun items from the counter once you reached a certain number of points.

after we used up all our tokens we transfer to this other arcade where they have different rides + games, too! ate shane got this cute angry birds plushy in one of the games.Β we all rode all the rides available there + when we got tired, we asked mum if we can ride those little motorcycles-for-rent. we had such a great time + we all enjoyed playing all the cool games + riding all the great rides! πŸ˜€

we capped the day by having a hearty meal in one of our favorite fast food.Β we sure had a wonderful time playing together + i really wish we can do this more often! πŸ˜€

d is for driver

i went out on a playdate with my cousins again last sunday. we had a wonderful time playing together + what we actually enjoyed the most is riding those fun arcade rides and those motorcycles, too! we were drivers for a day + what more can little kids like us ask for? πŸ˜‰

we took turns riding the boat, an airplane + a cool red car {which reminds me so much of my fave, lightning mcqueen!}, so we were captains, + drivers, + pilots for a day. you bet i had a wonderful time, i rode most of them over + over, until we ran out of tokens! πŸ˜€ even ate shane enjoyed the rides!

after we tried all the rides available, we went and checked out those cool pocket motorcycles-for-rent, which was just in front of the arcades. although, someone had to assist me while riding since i cannot control the motorcycle on my own yet, it was really quite a fun experience. we’ve even put these cool helmets on before mounting our rides. made us feel like real drivers, won’t you agree? πŸ˜‰

i will tell you more about our fun playdate in another post.

enjoy the rest of your weekend! ^_^

c is for cousins

out + about, family, weekend

my cousins are two of my favorite people in the world! apart from being family, they are also my friends + my playmates. back when we still live in my grandparent’s house, i get to spend most of my time with ate shane + kuya sean. we’d watch cartoons in my room, or go biking in the afternoon. it was really a lot of fun. now that mum + i live in a different house, i do not get to see my cousins often, that is why i really enjoy the time we spent together. just like when we went for a visit 2 sundays ago. i played computer games with them + i totally enjoyed plants vs. zombies, as well that fishy game, feeding frenzy.

we also danced to the tune of our favorite song, opa gangnam style, with matching strobe lights that my tito peejay installed in their living room! it was really fun. we also enjoyed an afternoon walk in the neighborhood with my mum + got the chance to see the animals in one of the neighbors. would you believe that the neighbor had a pet monkey caged just beside their fence? kuya sean even tried shaking hands with it! πŸ™‚

we went to the memorial park later in the afternoon to visit my mama + papa. we only stayed there for awhile since the park closes at 6pm and we were not able to leave home sooner. we ran around + took photos with mum + my titas. i bet you can tell that we had loads of fun. this is how sunday afternoons are meant to be spent, i just hope we’ll be able to do this again soon! πŸ™‚
